Areas we serve

Web development in Scotland, done properly.

We’re a web development studio based in Crail, on the East Neuk of Fife, working with clients right across Scotland and the UK.

Code Bunnies is a Scottish web development company based in Crail, a small fishing town on the East Neuk of Fife. We build web applications, native iOS apps, and the APIs and licensing servers behind them – properly engineered, tested and documented, by senior engineers who do this and nothing else.

Most of our clients never visit the studio, and they don’t need to. Web development in Scotland today is remote-first: we run every project in the open, so whether you’re in Leith, Finnieston or Lerwick you see exactly what we see – a live, reviewable build that moves forward week by week. Staging environments, pull requests and plain-English progress notes take the place of meetings you don’t have time for.

The work itself runs from bespoke web application development in Ruby on Rails, through native iOS apps in Swift, to the REST and GraphQL APIs that connect the two. We also build e-commerce stores, licensing and entitlement servers, and take on legacy rescue work – stabilising and modernising systems other teams have left behind.

If you’re comparing web development companies in Scotland, our honest pitch is this: we’re small, senior and picky. We take on fewer projects and finish the ones we start – with automated tests, documentation and a codebase you actually own at the end. Have a look at what we’ve built, then tell us about your project.

Working across Scotland

From the central belt to the Highlands and Islands, we work with businesses and founders wherever they are.

Web development in Edinburgh

Web apps and APIs for the capital’s tech, fintech and public-sector teams. Edinburgh is Scotland’s busiest digital market, and we build the kind of software it runs on – multi-tenant SaaS platforms, secure sign-in and identity systems, and the APIs behind them. Remote-first, with in-person workshops in the city when a whiteboard genuinely helps.

Web development in Glasgow

Platforms, e-commerce and integrations for Glasgow’s growing digital scene. From Spree-based webshops to bespoke booking and membership systems, we build the software behind Glasgow businesses – and connect it to the payment, CRM and logistics services they already rely on.

Web development in Dundee

Product and games-adjacent tooling in the UK’s design city. Dundee teams care about craft, and so do we: clean APIs, well-documented services, and interfaces that respect the design work that goes into them. We’re under an hour away, on the other side of the Tay.

Web development in Aberdeen

Reliable back-office and data systems for the north-east. Energy, logistics and marine businesses around Aberdeen run on data – we build the dashboards, reporting tools and integrations that make it usable, and keep them running long after launch.

Web development in Stirling

Bespoke software for businesses across the central belt. Stirling sits within an hour of most of Scotland’s population – a natural home for firms that need customer portals, internal tools, and the systems that quietly tie them together.

Web development in Perth

Web and mobile builds for Perthshire and Tayside. Rural businesses, visitor attractions and growing firms across the region – software that works as well on a phone in the field as it does back in the office.

Web development in Fife

Our home patch — from Crail across the East Neuk and the Kingdom. We’re a Fife business ourselves, and we’re always pleased to work with our neighbours: face to face when it’s useful, over a staging link when it’s not.

Web development in Inverness

Remote-first delivery for the Highlands and beyond. Distance has never been a reason to accept worse software. Everything we build is reviewable online as it progresses, so working with us from Inverness – or Orkney, or Shetland – feels no different from working next door.

Working with us

Questions from across Scotland.

Do you work with clients in Edinburgh and Glasgow?

Yes – much of our work comes from the central belt. Projects run remotely by default, with everything reviewable online as it progresses, and we’re happy to come through for kick-off workshops, discovery sessions or milestone reviews when meeting in person genuinely helps.

Where is Code Bunnies based?

In Crail, on the East Neuk of Fife – The Old Bakehouse on West Green, within easy reach of St Andrews, Dundee and Edinburgh. We’re a registered Scottish company (SC779821), and the software is engineered here in Scotland.

Do we need to meet in person to work together?

No. Most projects start with a video call and run entirely remotely. You’ll see the work on a staging environment from the first weeks, with regular plain-English updates instead of status meetings. That said, we do travel – some clients like a face-to-face kick-off, and we’re happy to oblige.

What kind of web development do you do?

Bespoke web applications in Ruby on Rails, native iOS apps in Swift, and the REST and GraphQL APIs behind them. We also build e-commerce stores, licensing and entitlement servers, and take on legacy rescue – stabilising and modernising systems other teams have left behind. See our services for the full picture.

How much does web development cost in Scotland?

It depends entirely on scope, so we won’t pretend there’s a single number. What we will promise is a clear, itemised proposal before any commitment, honest advice if a simpler approach would serve you better, and no surprise invoices. Tell us what you’re trying to build and you’ll get a straight answer.

Can you take over an existing project or codebase?

Yes – legacy rescue is one of our core services. We’ll audit what you have, tell you honestly what state it’s in, and either stabilise and modernise it or plan a careful migration. We’ve inherited codebases with no tests, no documentation and no original developers left to ask.

Do you work with startups and small businesses?

That’s most of who we work with – SMEs and founders across Scotland and the UK who want software done properly the first time. We’re comfortable being the entire technical team for a non-technical founder, or adding senior capacity alongside an in-house team.

How is progress shared during a project?

In the open. Work ships to a staging environment you can open in your browser, changes go through reviewed pull requests, and you get plain-English progress notes rather than jargon. Wherever you are in Scotland, you see the same build we do – there’s no big reveal at the end.
